Constituent question: Investment in Football

Ms BURNET question to MINISTER for SPORT, Mr DUIGAN

My question is from Victoria of South Hobart. Football, the world game, is Tasmania's largest participation sport. How much state government funding has been allocated to football infrastructure over the past five years compared with other major sports? Does the government believe that investment reflects participation levels? What is the government's plan to address the shortage of football training and playing space in Greater Hobart, particularly within the Clark electorate, where participation continues to grow but available facilities have not kept pace? Given the shortage of available playing and training space, will the government work with councils to increase the capacity of existing community grounds through investments such as sports lighting, field upgrades and all-weather infrastructure?
