Estimates - Attorney-General - Health Complaints Act
Ms BURNET - Through you, Attorney General. The health complaints act is over 30 years old and is in dire need of review. I'm aware of many people dissatisfied with the delays of finalising complaints and outcomes of those complaints. Your office has previously indicated that you would be undertaking a review of the act. This occurred in 2024. Recommendations were given to your office in September 2024. Last year, you were asked about this at Estimates but had just started in the role and wanted to await he finalisation of the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (NRAS) Review by Sue Dawson, and that occurred in October 2025. Could you please update the committee on what is happening with the Health Complaints Act?
Mr BARNETT - Thank you, Dr Davies.
Dr DAVIES - Thanks, deputy. I have provided some recommendations through to the department - well, the legislative area of the Department of Justice - and I am working with them in relation to any potential timeframes.
